How To Throw The Best 4th Of July Party

Updated: Jul 21, 2020

With July 4th quickly approaching, we’ve got red, white, and blue on the brain! If you’re hosting a backyard BBQ, you’ll want to be ready. And we can help! Check out our tips and tricks for eats, drinks, essentials, and games.

Entertaining Space

Make sure your outdoor set-up makes your guests feel comfortable. It’s hard for guests to enjoy your cookout if they’re stuck balancing a plate on one hand while trying to eat as quickly as possible with the other. Don’t forget other essentials like shade, mosquito repellent, music, and lawn games! If you don't have corn hole handy, here are some great DIY backyard games. You'll also need lots of table space and seating, which is why you should take a look at our current listings! We have some properties with great backyard space.

Make Sure Your Menu Has Variety

When throwing the perfect party the last thing you want to do is leave your guests in a bind due to lack of food. Consider their tastes and dietary preferences. With your big plans for hot dogs and burgers, even out your menu with vegetarian-friendly options to indulge in. Consider a vegetable tray, some grilled baked potatoes, coleslaw, and corn on the cob. Don’t forget you’ll need a variety of condiments, paper plates, cups, utensils, and extra ice! If you're planning to serve dessert, we suggest this delicious Berry Cup Pie recipe.

Consider The Cleanup

Make sure you have plenty of obvious trash cans outside to save yourself a week of cleaning up your backyard. It's frustrating for you and your guests to keep asking where the nearest bin is (if they bother asking at all). Make sure your bathrooms are guest-ready. Stock them up with plenty of extra soap, toilet paper, and hand towels.

Practice Firework Safety

If you’re planning to set off a few fireworks, keep the night safe and enjoyable for everyone by following a few simple guidelines.

  1. Find an outdoor, open area for the show.

  2. Wear safety glasses while lighting the fireworks.

  3. Last but not least, keep a connected hose nearby!

We hope your party is a hit with all your friends, family, and neighbors! From all of us at Dreamworks property team, have a wonderful 4th of July!
